HIBERNIA HOUSE

Hibernia House, home to many parties, gigs and events, has recently made another appearance through the fame and fortune of our lovely neighbour Ariel Sexton-Shaw. She is featured on the front page of Sydneys Urban Village Magazine in which she discusses her recent trip to Bali and the history of creativity in the building. Ariel is a painter, sculptor and jeweller who is a permanent resident of Hibernia House and you can read the full article here.

According to visitsydneyaustralia 'Hibernia House was erected in two stages; four bays in 1924, and the remaining five Elizabeth Street bays and the Kippax Street frontage in 1928. For many years the building was the headquarters of the Hibernian Australasian Catholic Benefit Society (HACBS). The HACBS had been the largest Irish organisation in Australia since the 1880s.'

Within the building we have creators from all talents and backgrounds; musicians, artists, hairdressers, yogis, sculptors, tattoo artists and more. The building is situated 100 meters away from Central Station, is laced with graffiti throughout but boasts the most insane roof mural which if you haven't had chance to check it out personally, check it out below. If you have been in the studio you will have seen and or heard about MAYO and his own little language when it comes to tattooing. He is one of many amazing guest artists that we have had here at the studio and has also left his mark on the building right in the centre of our studio. Many of our customers ask “what language is that?!” but in actual fact it is English!
Gaby was also kind enough to shoot us a short video which helps navigate to the studio. We do understand that the studio isn’t the most obvious to find especially being tucked away on the top floor but with this clip below we hope that we have been able to solve that issue!
